Lohmann Animal Health Honored with Patriotic Employer Award
Company honored for support of employees serving in National Guard and Reserves
WINSLOW, Maine (Oct 8, 2009) — Lohmann Animal Health and Facilities Manager Ron Wood have been honored by the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve with the Patriotic Employer Award.
Wood and Lohmann were nominated by Nathaniel Gordon, a Maintenance Technician with Lohmann and a Staff Sergeant in the Maine Army National Guard. The award honors employers who support their employees' service in the National Guard and Reserve.
Gordon is scheduled to be deployed to Iraq some time early next year. He is currently training for his one-year tour of duty. This will be Gordon's second deployment to Iraq. Gordon serves as a squad leader and his duties include construction supervisor, truck/convoy commander, recon advisor for engineering projects and security details.
Born on Mountain Home Air Force Base in Boise, Idaho, Gordon grew up the son of a 22-year Army veteran. Gordon has spent 12 years in the National Guard and recently re-enlisted for another six-year stint. He has earned 15 awards and commendations, along with 32 certificates and coins of excellence for job performance and accomplishments during his duty.
Gordon and his wife, Sarah, have a daughter, Leah, 8, and a son, Christian, 6.
